Long ago I trained under Kung Fu practitioners, they demanded I learn only their own teachings, and that I keep the millennia old traditions of the Shaolin Monks. After that I trained in Krav Maga, The Israeli Defense Force's Hand to Hand Combat Program, it was good training, but as instructors we were confined to teaching only methods that a corporation pre-approved. During and after this time I was exposed to Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, and many other fighting systems & methods, they all have one thing in common, they restrict themselves to what they're good at. When I began studying firearms training, I discovered that there is no rank, no confining growth to 'systems,' and no fluff, there is only a skill set. I immediately recognized that combative training should be conducted the same way.
Today I run my own training company, Counter Violence USA. Here we're disinterested in traditions, in bowing, in uniforms. While the masses confine themselves within a singular skill set to avoid facing defeat in training, we branch out. As the saying goes, "you win or you learn," a willingness to face defeat allows us to discover THE best skills, techniques, & training methods from every leading instructor that we can find on each individual topic, so we can bring it home to our own trainees. We're not your masters, we're not your sensei, we're just fellow Americans who Study Violence, and we will NEVER ask you to bow to us, because we BOW TO NO ONE.
